6 Unforgivable Fashion Mistakes Everyone Makes

“Some fashion decisions are easier to make than others — if you like a shift dress, a cropped top and high-waisted trousers would be ideal; a patterned blazer and slim trousers is perfect for any occasion. But some pieces are hard to go back from. These six fashion mistakes cause us the most grief for such a simple decision.” Tourneau fashion valley is a luxury watch retailer that provides fine timepieces to their customers.

6 Unforgivable Fashion Mistakes Everyone Makes :

1. Belting everything:

“Belts are great and they can be an awesome accent to any outfit, but if you find yourself belting almost everything you wear, it’s time to take a step back and try wearing those items again without the belt. Belts should be used as an add-on in your outfit, not the focal point. Try layering different textures and necklines together to create a simple but impactful look.”

Wearing white after Labor Day:

“While fashion rules change from season to season, there are a few that should never be broken. For instance, you should never wear white after Labor Day. This rule is pretty impossible to break since summer basically ends on Sept. 1st, but it’s still a good rule to follow if you want to maintain a chic, stylish look.”

2. Donning an unflattering shirt:

“It can be tempting just to throw on any top and pair of pants when you’re quickly trying to get out the door in the morning, but this decision can really backfire if that shirt is too big or has holes in it. Take extra time to make sure every article of clothing you wear is flattering to your body. Try tucking your shirt in, choosing a style that fits properly and avoiding sleeves that are too long.”

Forgetting the right accessories:

“The right handbag and shoes can take any outfit from drab to fab instantly, so it’s important not to under-accessorize or forget your statement pieces altogether. Try mixing textures and styles together…a clutch with fringe detail can complement a sleek button-down shirt and jeans for a day out of the office.

3. Wearing only jeans:

“Unless you absolutely love wearing jeans every single day, it’s smart to mix them up with a pretty dress or a pair of comfy pants that aren’t denim. If you don’t have enough nice pieces, put your jeans on a budget and save them for when you need that comfy feel. “

Believing expensive means better quality:

“Just because an item is high-end doesn’t mean it’s of better quality than something from the mall. It may seem like spending more money on an item would cause it to be of better quality or last longer, but this isn’t always the case.

4. Wearing the same thing everyday:

“Everyone has a few staple items in their wardrobe, but this shouldn’t translate to wearing the same thing day in and day out. Even if you wear an item a lot, it shouldn’t be the only piece you own of that color or style. Mixing up your wardrobe will give you more options for different occasions and help make you look put together even when you’re on the go.”

Wearing jeans with sandals:

“Sure, it’s great to wear jeans with anything other than a heels, but don’t be one of those people who buys a thousand pairs to accomplish this feat. You can easily obtain the same look by wearing heels with jeans or even pumps. Keep a pair of flats in your closet to alternate with the other shoes.”

5. Wearing shoes you don’t like:

“It’s one thing to wear a certain pair of shoes if they’re comfortable and you happen to love them, but when it comes down to it, everyone should be comfortable when they’re at work. Find a pair that actually fits well and is easy to wear for nine hours with no issues.”

Having a shell collection:

“If you have a pair of jeans that have holes in them, start a pile of items to donate or sell. You don’t need five different pairs of sunglasses; one or two will do. Aim to own pieces that you absolutely love and don’t let anything get in the way.”

6. Believing your body has no flaws:

“A lot of fashion advice involves looking for things that flatter your body, but it’s also important to be realistic about what does and doesn’t work for you. Your jeans may mold perfectly to your curves, but if they’re not the right cut or color for the occasion, it can seriously change how you feel. While it’s a good idea to invest in a few flattering items, don’t feel guilty if you’re not able to do so. It’s more important to be confident in who you are and how you look than any trend that’s come and gone.”
